Now let’s consider this!

Should tonsils be removed or not?

Tonsillitis Home Remedies

The tonsils are two small masses of lymphatic tissue lying on the either side of the uvuva (the little-tongue of the soft palate). With the adenoids, they form part of a glandular tissue at the back of the throat. Healthy tonsils are small, much the same colour as the surrounding area.

Usually the two tonsils are almost equal in size. However, when bacteria or viruses infect the tonsils, they become very red and swollen and can develop yellow or grey spots known as tonsillitis while recurring infection of the tonsil is called chronic tonsillitis.

Again, according to health expert the tonsils are not useless organs to be removed at first opportunity as previous medical thought used to be. Medical experts warns that a tonsillectomy (to remove either a part of the tonsils or the whole thing) should be a last-resort treatment option.

Now what are the solutions?

Eating foods that are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C that put less pressure on lymphatic system and boost your immune system that include:

  • nuts and seeds such as pumpkin, chia, flax and so on.
  • herbs and spices such as ginger, garlic, turmeric, et cetra.
  • unrefined oils such as coconut oil and virgin olive oil.
  • green leaf vegetables and cruciferous vegetables like: cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and so on.
  • omega-3 foods such as salmon and wild seafood.

Want to know foods to avoid?
