Epilepsy is defined as a group of disorders of Central Nervous System (CNS) characterized by paroxysmal cerebral dyshythmia, manifesting, as brief episodes (seizures) of loss or disturbances of conciousness with or without characteristics body movement (convulsion) sensory or psychiatric phenomena.
Anyone can develop epilepsy which affect both males and females not minding their races, backgrounds and ages. Having a single seizure does not mean you have an epilepsy. Two unprovoked seizures are generally required for an epilepsy diagnoses. Treatment with medications or sometimes surgery can control seizures for the majority of people with epilepsy. Some people require lifelong treatment to control seizures but for others, their seizures go away eventually, some children with epilepsy may outgrow the condition with age.

If YOU see anyone having a seizure take the following steps:
- Time how it lasts.
- Clear the area of anything hard or sharp.
- Loosen anything at the neck that may affect his or her breathing.

1. Guava Leaves (Ewe goloba in Yoruba; Gwaaba in Hausa; Igobe in Urhobo) Boil Guava leaves in water. Take 250 ml twice a day.

10. Mistletoe (Afomo isana in Yoruba) prepare strong tea infusion of shade dried kolanut Mistletoe. Allow it to boil for 15 to 20 minutes. Drink 250 ml twice daily.
11. Tetrapleura Tetraptera (Owoglo in Idoma; Aidan, Aridan in Yoruba; Dawo in Hausa; Oshosho, Osakirisa, Uhiokriho in Yoruba; Edeminang in Efik; Uyayak in Ibibio) It possesses anti-epileptic properties. Crush the dried Tetrapleura Tetraptera pod into pieces or cut part of the fresh fruit, add it into your cooking water. Allow it to boil for some minutes. The water will change colour.
